PGMC Junior Rockhound Program
The PGMC Junior Rockhounds program introduces young enthusiasts to the exciting world of rocks, minerals, and crystals through fun, hands on learning activities. Participants explore the differences between rocks and minerals, discover how minerals are used in everyday life, and learn about crystal structures while building their own collections.

Meetings often include interactive activities such as examining mineral samples, using geology tools, and even building model crystal structures to better understand how minerals form. Club members frequently donate specimens so each junior rockhound can begin or expand their personal rock and mineral collection.

The program encourages curiosity and participation, giving kids the opportunity to share what they already know while learning new concepts from experienced club members and volunteers. As participants complete lessons and activities, they work toward earning Junior Rockhound badges and patches, including the Rocks and Minerals Badge after finishing the introductory course.

Junior Rockhounds meetings are designed to spark a lifelong interest in geology while providing a welcoming and engaging environment for young rock enthusiasts.

Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult. Non-members will need to fill out a release form.
